MSNL Thai Stick seeds review

MSNL Thai Stick seeds review

In a cannabis landscape dominated by new hybrid offerings that can and will quite literally blow your God damned head off (not a bad thing, not at all) - it's sometimes nice to just chill out with a classic. Enter the Thai Stick Strain, one of the most famous and beloved Sativa Landrace strains to ever grace the bowls and papers of smokers, and one of the few pure Sativa's still available.

Thai Stick first hit western shores back in the mid-60s. American GIs, in need of that very special something to help them chill out in the middle of a jungle, took a liking to this strain and brought it back home with them.

The original Thai Stick was grown in Thailand’s remote mountain regions, where traditional farming practices have been passed down through generations. A true step up from the Mexican brick weed offerings available, Thai Stick is thought of as having a huge impact on weed culture just as it was really getting started.

These days, the original Thai Stick strain is much harder to come by due to its rarity and high demand. However, MSNL Seeds - the first online seed market and still one of Europe's top seedbanks have brought this classic back for a whole new generation of cannabis enthusiasts to get their grubby little paws on!

Look, Smell, and Taste

Now, as this is an OG landrace, the appearance is a little different from most of today's market. Growing in a tall and lanky structure, the buds are long and thin rather than thick and chunky. The color is a classic Sativa green, with bright orange hairs throughout and a heavy frosting of sparkling trichomes.

The smell is unmistakably Sativa, with the pungent lemongrass beginning, rounding out into a more earthy, woody finish. There's almost none of the diesel or fuel-like base that dominates today's market, and the difference is super refreshing.

Refreshing is also the best way to describe the taste and mouthfeel. It's like nothing else, with a tingly sensation that runs down your throat and leaves you with a sweet citrus tang that lingers on the tongue. It's easy to see why this strain became the instant go-to once it touched down on the American mainland way back when.

Effects and Medicinal Uses

Being a pure Sativa Landrace, you might already have a pretty obvious idea of what to expect.  Clear-headed, strong cerebral focus with a generally uplifting and invigorating high is the name of the game here, friends. There are no couchlock or heavy body effects to worry about here, just a good old-fashioned head change.

Truly the perfect option for those looking for a daytime pick-me-up, or a little help with getting those creative juices flowing. Thai Stick is also great for social situations, as it tends to bring out a chatty feeling that makes small talk somehow a little less painful.

Obviously, with the invigorating effects and lack of sedative qualities, this strain isn't for those in need of help with chronic pain and/or insomnia. On the flip side though, it can be great for those suffering from depression and/or anxiety. It can also be useful for boosting appetite.

Growing Tips

One of the few downsides to Thai Stick is that, thanks to its evolutionary path, this strain just isn't suited to colder climates. As such, if you're thinking of growing this strain then you'll either need to keep it indoors - or try and find a spot with hot and humid climatic conditions if you want a chance at big yields.

Shes can grow to gigantic sizes, with some phenos topping out well above the 3-meter mark (that's 15 or so feet) when left to her own devices in warm climates. Best to control the growth patterns from an early point if you are running a tent setup.

Bottom Line

Thai Stick is, and always will be, one of the most important cultivars to have ever graced the cannabis market. The pungent lemony sweetness and chatty head high have won over smokers since its inception in the age of free love and flower power - and still stands today as one of a kind. Definitely worth checking out if you can get your hands on it!
