Super Skunk Marijuana Seeds

Big Review of Super Skunk Cannabis

Skunk#1 doesn’t need any special introduction among Marijuana lovers. Its story is very well known and the plant has achieved near-legendary status, due to its great yield and low maintenance. Super Skunk, is an Indica dominant blend of the original Skunk#1 and its original parent Afghani Indicas, developed by Sensi Seeds. Super Skunk is effectively a new, improved version of the original Skunk: it has been developed to deliver a familiarly “Skunky” hit, but in a more robust and tastier way. In fact, Super Skunk’s dense, resinous buds produce a surprisingly spicy and sweet smell, with a similar taste (perhaps with some lemony, coniferous hints). The effect is a very relaxing, physical high that is best enjoyed inside the house and is not recommended for any engaging activity. In terms of appearance, Super Skunk is predominantly green, with some orange and brown twists about it. Its buds are very dense and chunky. Also, it is worth pointing out that Super Skunk shares its parent’s THC content, which is above normal, exceeding 19%. With a CBD at similarly high levels (2,4%), it is a rather potent variety that has a lot of medicinal –as well as recreational-- capabilities, especially in serious muscle conditions. It was also the winner of the High Times Harvest Festival 1990 and numerous other awards.

Super Skunk Lineage and History

Super Skunk’s history is very closely tied with that of Skunk#1, from which it originates from. Skunk#1, a cross of Mexican, Colombian and Afghani strains, was crossed back with its Asian parents, this creating this “Super” Skunk hybrid. Afghani Indica The purpose behind the creation of this plant, was to appeal to the Skunk#1 lovers, who were looking for something extra from their favorite strain. As stated above, this strain is of 90% Indica heritage, and its bulky but compact size, make it a no-brainer in terms of growing, as it can easily be maintained indoors. Its growth pattern is very much what you’d expect from an Indica variety. A sturdy and short-to-medium build plant, with strong branches and a stocky trunk, which in turn produces a fair amount of mouthwatering, verdant buds, covered in short brown trichomes and gleaming THC crystals all over them. The taste is famously strong and pungent, producing a very potent, relaxing buzz. The significant Indica dominance in the gene pool of this plant is a very important factor to the nature of the high it provides. Like most Indica varieties, it offers a bodily stone that will most probably paralyze users and put them in a state of a baked couch-trip. Super Skunk first appeared on the market in the late ‘80s, but its ancestor was around for a notably greater amount of time. Since the history of the two strains is indivisibly intertwined, it is well worth taking a look at the history of Skunk#1 and its subsequent evolution.

Skunk #1 to Rule Them All

The general consensus is that the ‘70s and the ‘80s were a different, simpler time. This is in many ways, not true, and nowhere is this more obvious than in the international cannabis industry – which was then practically nonexistent. Back in the day, growing marijuana was a matter of luck, with not even the slightest hint of careful breeding and efficient hybridizing. That was, until the first breeders came into existence and brought forth a global revolution in cannabis growing. Skunk#1 is perhaps the first original super-strain: it was selected from well over 20.000 plants and it was carefully bred to be suitable for both indoor and outdoor growing. Combining the best elements from Colombian, Mexican and Afghani landrace varieties, this strain has been one of the most resilient and easy to grow plants in the history of cannabis, with some impressive effects and taste to boot. Its phenotypes and genetics are embedded in thousands of different seeds, to the point which the word “Skunk” nowadays refers to all kinds of indoor growing varieties. The origins of Skunk come from the mid-70s. At that period, dedicated American breeder going by the name “Sam”, was doing some pioneering work in breeding, by collecting seeds from around the world that he then took with him to the Netherlands (look at the story of Durban Poison). It was in the magical land of Amsterdam where Skunk#1 was further developed in a joint effort. Sam the Skunkman (aka David Watson) is a household name in the marijuana world and does not need special introductions among the cannabis connoisseurs. He is still a legend among breeders and he is in fact, still active on the scene. Ed Eddy Rosenthal Skunk#1 was personally curated by a breeder named “Eddy”, who carefully selected the most interesting genetics among thousands of plants, perfecting the strain to its final form. Eddy’s project did not go unnoticed by the major players of the era, who developed a keen interest on this new super cannabis that he has been growing. Thus, Skunk#1 ended up becoming the ultimate reference strain for its genetics and achieved iconic status and popularity, due to its perfect balance. In fact, Eddy stated that Skunk#1 was the first true stabilized hybrid in Holland’s Marijuana world.

Beyond Skunk #1: The Development of Super Skunk

Super Skunk, is essentially taking the Skunk back to the roots (no pun intended), crossing it back with its Afghani parents. Although similar attempts have been made in the past (most notably with the release of Shiva Skunk, three years prior), Super Skunk was the first project that was considered as a whole new level for the Skunk family. It would be a very challenging task indeed to create a strain that would improve on an already groundbreaking variety such as the Skunk#1; however, the breeders at Sensi were not afraid to experiment. After all, the time when all this happened was the late ‘80s, and new breeding techniques meant that the foundation for a large-scale cannabis industry has been set. The new plant was a huge success, beloved still by many around the globe. Thanks to its euphoric and “far out” effects, it has become a classic among users and growers alike. Breeders are in fact among this strain’s most loyal friends, because there is very little chance of something going wrong with this strain, especially when growing it “underground”. It’s stocky, stealthy, resilient and, depending on the dispensary or seed bank, quality seeds can result in high-yielding, happy plants that hopefully, nobody else will see.

From the ‘90s to the ‘10s

Some dispensaries in the US categorize the strain as a Sativa; however, if experienced smokers and breeders take a look at the genetics, they will find out that both its lineage and its effect, point out towards a clear Indica variety. Its potency levels have been measured at almost 20%+ levels of THC and about 2.5% CBD, so this is an extremely potent breed, that is not recommended for starting your day –except perhaps for the weekend or a particularly slow holiday. However, it is among the best choices for a relaxing evening with friends. Or, watching your favorite show (provided its not very complicated). Fun stuff in general.

Seed Spreads

The “Skunk” part within “Super Skunk” means that the spreads of this strain are everywhere –and we do mean, everywhere. It is very difficult not to find some Skunk lineage, especially concerning indoor growing varieties. Eddy’s project culminated in 1984 and forever changed the way in which marijuana was grown. For the first time in human history, people had an almost DIY marijuana plant that was stable, potent and predictable enough for indoor and home growing.

Best Super Skunk Strains

Super Skunk Marijuana Seeds

Super-Skunk Super Skunk marijuana have been developed from Skunk lovers for Skunk lovers. In what is essentially “Skunk on steroids”, Super Skunk marijuana is the culmination of many years of careful Skunk #1 hybridizing. Super Skunk cannabis has been back-crossed with its Afghani parent, to deliver the familiar Skunk hit, but in a more potent, tastier way. Super Skunk cannabis generally grow into sturdy, compact plants, that can however, stretch a bit during flowering; when growing indoors, proper size-management techniques might be in order. Like her parents, she’s an easy plant to grow and ideal for beginners and impatient growers alike: its reasonable yield, insanely quick flower time and superior quality buds make Super Skunk one of the most versatile marijuana varieties ever grown. However, watch out before you click that “order now” button: Super Skunk is also Super Stinky. Be advised and be prepared if you plan on growing discreetly. In terms of smoking, Super Skunk has the all-too-familiar smell of Skunk#1, but is noticeably sweeter. The hit is very physical, with muscle relaxing attributes, which are perfect for a slow day inside the house or in natural environment. Just make sure that you have a couch/hammock/patch of grass to lie on and never, ever try to drive, work or be active after having smoked Super Skunk.

Skunk #1

Skunk #1 The cannabis hybrid that changed Cannabis breeds. The first original super strain (whose story we have told in depth), was hand picked among tens of thousands plants, to combine the best of all worlds (specifically Colombian, Mexican and Afghani worlds). Due to its greenhouse origins, Skunk is performing equally well, no matter if it is placed in or outdoors and can adjust to all light cycles. It is a joy to grow and its predictability in terms of yield, flowering, effect etc., make it an excellent choice for beginners and/or commercial growers. Ever since its introduction in 1984, Skunk#1 has been ever present in the cannabis world and has been crossed with nearly everything. Skunk is in fact so ubiquitous that its name itself is used to refer to all indoor growing varieties, even without any direct lineage.

Dready Skunk AutoFlowering

Dready Skunk The well known and beloved Skunk #1 strain, crossed with a Big Bud for an extra push yield-side. That’s what Dready Skunk is. It goes without saying that the experiment is a success and careful growers will enjoy heavy yields from this wonderful plant. Outdoors, Dready can grow as tall as ten feet without any particular care from the grower. However, her size can be a nuisance when growing indoors and proper techniques should be implemented to prevent her from becoming gigantic: LST methods and SCROG set ups have been known to produce really well. Her Big Bud genetics mean that Dready Skunk weed can produce some huge, resinous buds, which are however, susceptible to rot and need proper ventilation. Also, you have to keep in mind that Dready Skunk is still predominately a Skunk cross and it certainly smells like it. As soon as she starts flowering, she will also start stinking so that’s one more thing to take into account before attempting to grow Dready indoors. The hit from Smoking Dready Skunk is recognizably Skunk-y. A deep, couch-locking, muscle numbing stone with a familiar Skunk taste.

Haze 19 x Skunk Marijuana Seeds - Nirvana

Haze 19 Haze 19 x skunk is a F1 hybrid, which provides a surprisingly cerebral high (considering its Skunk origins), but still maintains some of the growing qualities of the latter. It is a very good piece of breeding by Nirvana, who managed to spice up the Skunk effects by mixing it up with Haze, resulting in a more vivid experience. A tall plant, H19xSkunk will reward careful and experienced growers with a sizeable yield and many big buds. This plant is well known for its aroma and flavor, which is sweet and fruity; a rare quality among Haze hybrids.

Super Lemon Haze Seeds – Green House

Super Lemon Haze Super Lemon Haze is a variation of the multi-award winning Super Silver Haze, mixed with Lemon Skunk. This resulted in one of the best hybrids in Cannabis History, that was an immediate hit with the community and surprised everyone with its Lemony taste. Growing SLH outdoors is possible and very easy; provided that you live somewhere warm. As this plant grows massive, special precautions should be taken if you plan to plant it indoors. Lolloping and/or Low Street Technique, Screen Of Green and super cropping methods should work well. The addition of Lemon Skunk is very noticeable in the flavor of Super Lemon Haze, which maintains all the floral attributes of Haze. The game-changer here, was the added citrus twist. Smoker’s reports attribute the same, sought after, Super Silver Haze buzz with Super Lemon Haze, a wondrous mix of clear, lucid Sativa high with a deep Indica body stone.

Super Silver Haze – Green House

Super Silver Haze Super Silver Haze was a born (bred) a winner: it became an instant favorite when it was released by Green House Seeds in the ‘90’s and has won the High Times Cannabis Cup three years in a row; an impressive achievement by Cannabis standards. What initially made it famous was the superior quality high that it offered. SSH is smooth as silk and its effects match the description: joyous and oftentimes spiritual, this strain offers a one of a kind experience to the user. In addition to an incredible high, Super Silver Haze is very easy to grow indoors. Unlike her haze sisters who are generally more demanding and can drag the flowering process on for nearly 5 months, Super Silver Haze is much more grower-friendly: her flowering time is in about 9-11 weeks, up to a month and a half sooner than some of her haze relatives.

Somativa - Soma Seeds

Soma Somativa from Soma Seeds has been developed by crossing two of Soma most favorite strains: Super Skunk and the legendary Jack Herer. For those who do are not familiar with the name, Jack Herer is one of the sought after marijuana stains in the world and its inclusion in the breeding of Somativa alone, makes this particular cross interesting. Somativa is a tall plant that may require some training to keep under control. Even though Indica dominant plants are not usually that big, there is a fair amount of Sativa on this plant, that shows on her long, thin fingered leaves. The sativa heritage of Somativa is also apparent in the high that it delivers: a full on sativa buzz that is more spiritual than bodily. You can expect an uplifting high that is creative and sociable, filling you with warm sensations and an intense feeling of happiness.

Frisian Dew Feminized – Dutch Passion

Frisian Dew Frisian Dew is arguably one of the most beautiful Cannabis plant to have ever grown on this planet. By crossing a Super Skunk female and a Purple Star male, Dutch Passion have created a stunning plant, whose light purple buds set against vibrant green leaves, make it a worthwhile grow for purely aesthetic purposes. Frisian Dew carries a heavily perfumed aroma that can be a little rough but is not overwhelming and, considering the plant’s other benefits, not a let down. The flavor of Frisian Dew weed fits with the aroma. It is a generic weed taste that can be a little harsh, bit not overly so. A typical indica/sativa cross, Frisian Dew marijuana effects are a balanced mix of relaxing body stone and rushing brain activity. Definitely not sharing the infamy of Super Skunk in terms of bodily stone, Frisian Dew weed is of medium potency and suitable for all sorts of occasions and purposes.
  • Strain: Indica/Sativa 50%/50%
  • Auto Flower Seeds Available: No
  • Feminized Seeds Available: Yes
  • Yield: High
  • Height Indoors: Medium
  • Height Outdoors: Tall
  • Flowering Period: 7-8 Weeks

Original Amnesia Feminized - Dinafem

Original Amnesia Original Amnesia marijuana strain from Dinafem is the feminized version of the multi award winning Amnesia. Amnesia is one of the most famous strains on Amsterdam coffee shops and is very popular because of its high quality (and potent) hit. The genetic make-up of Original Amnesia is hazy, at best. That’s because we know there is definitely some Haze (probably Super Silver Haze) and Skunk involved, but not much else. Original Amnesia is a sativa dominant plant that grows like an indica. That means she will stay more compact than the original Hazes, although growth can be very vigorous, requiring some extra attention through her flowering process. Her buds are dense and meaty, coated with a huge amount of crystallized resin. Original Amnesia smokes with a nice fresh sativa style aroma. It hits fast and hard, so it must be used with caution, especially by novices. Effects can even reach the magical realm of the psychedelic, although they are not too long lasting and the descent is fairly quick and smooth.
  • Strain: Sativa Dominant

  • Height Indoors: Medium
  • Height Outdoors: Medium
  • Flowering Period: 60-70 Days
  • THC Level: 16%-22%

Skunk Kush – Sensi Seeds

Skunk Kush Much like Super Skunk is a cross between Skunk#1 and its Afghani parent, Skunk Kush has been crossed with another Asian strain: Hindu Kush. A sturdy, easy to grow plant, it develops into a dense and stocky indica plant with thick dark leaves. The buds on Skunk Kush weed are sizeable and resinous. You can expect to wait around eight weeks from the start of flowering to harvest. Its Himalayan heritage means that the aroma is typically pungent and strong, a feature that can become more of a concern if you are growing it indoors. If grown correctly, Skunk Kush delivers above-average yields and offers a relaxing, mellow stone, that is not too heavy or too weak.
